Elder Byron S. Marshall

Elder Byron S. Marshall, a Trenton, NJ native, took the long way to Jesus…drug abuse, homelessness, jails, institutions and near death.  After many years of struggling, he finally had enough and surrendered all to God, promising to never turn back.

In 1995 he rededicated his life to God under the awesome Bishop Joseph P. Ravenell, Pastor of Samaritan Baptist Church in Trenton, NJ.  He later relocated to New Jerusalem House of God in Mount Holly, NJ in 2003 where God continued to work on Byron and grow him in HIS infinite Wisdom, Truth and Spirit.

One day Byron had an encounter with Jesus and when he cried out “Yes, God Yes! What do you want?” . . .  he got his answer.  The Holy Spirit spoke to him and said “You have been asking God to do for you all of your life, now it’s time to do something for God.”  It was during this same time that Senior Elder/Pastor Irving D. Fryar, Sr. of New Jerusalem House of God, being lead by the Holy Spirit, looked at Byron one day and told him that God had something for him to do.  Though reluctant, God had already prepared Byron’s heart to serve.  So, after being trained and tested, Byron was ordained as a Deacon and has served in that capacity at New Jerusalem House of God for over 5-1/2 years.

He also serves as a member of the Pastor’s executive board, the financial committee, a S.O.W. (School of the Word) teacher, a new disciple teacher and the director of the DVD/CD audio video ministry. He was also the first to spearhead a food and clothing outreach drive at the church.

He is the son of Barbara A. Marshall and the late Jesse Goss, Jr.; father of Ebony (Claude) Kemp and Byron Jr. (Thelma); stepfather of Anthony Richards; Pop-Pop to Jabree and Rey; a friend to many and a husband to one, Hope Marshall.  But most important of all he is a child of God and a man after God’s own heart.  He believes that it is his time to serve God and that the best place to start is with Obedience.

He has been a software development specialist for the state of NJ for approximately 25 years.  He has a photography/videography business called BHopeful Designs and is currently working on his degree in television production.

Some of Byron’s favorite scriptures are:

Byron’s prayer is that his light so shines before man, woman, boy and girl, that they may see his good deeds and glorify his Father in heaven.
